Hitting or Missing the Mark

Frustration characterized my experience during our monthly Advanced SAVI phone seminar this week.

I had a difficult time vectoring my energy into the system that was generated by the group's exhcange of information. I reacted to what I detected as fight behavior on the part of other participants who registered complaints about the work the group had done to date (e.g. "No one volunteered for the 'consultant' position last month," and "There was talk about walking the plank!").

My analysis is that in the face of new and challenging work, our group retreated into the familiar and known (i.e., addressing red light behavior in the form of rage through use of the hostility hypothesis, which is part of the Modul 2 'SAVI as a Diagnostic Tool' workshop).

The idea of putting oneself 'out there' in a safe environment in order to develop new skills in introducing and articulating SAVI theory I find stimulating. I also thought that practicing advanced SAVI work in a safe environment had been an articulated goal for the workshop.

I'm interested in practicing advanced work in SAVI leading to certification, and the mind-read that I would like to check out is that the rest of the group is more interested in practicing alert sequences, which is old work that I don't consider to be aligned to certification (another mind-read to check out).

Of course, taking all of this to the group in will represent complaint behavior of my own.  Is it my intention to fight back?  Work for me is to figure out how to get the information into the system without relying on the avoidance behaviors of 'fight' or 'competition'.
